The A. O. F. Corp, hai received the following report, from their New York correspondents, E. A. Pierce & Co. The market was firm enough and in that respect was encouraging. However, there, seems to be no great' urge to buy and no particular spread in intereat after the down- ward tendency for two weeks. The American Iron and Steal Institute;, places mill activity in the steel industry at 38.1 per cent compared with $4.3 per cent for the previous week.
Wheat: The failure of the forecasted rains to materialize and hot dry weather in the North Western sections and in Canada developed a larger demand. There was no pressure of selling except for realizing.
Cotton: Early offerings were absorbed by the Far East and by dome- stic spinners. The advance induced by the strength of wheat met witb increased offerings
