The Tenth Far Eastern Olympic Games opened in Manila on Saturday with the record number of athletes from China, Japan, the Philippines and the Dutch East Indies participa- ting, and at the end of the day's sport, the Chinese community in Manila were frantically celebrating China's excellent opening. They won the football match against the Philippines. scoring twice without any reply while in the basket-ball match they won comfortably against Japan.
The Philippines were successful in their tennis engagement against the Dutch East Indies” and in baseball they more than made up for the defeat in football at the hands of China by winning 25-1.
Japan gave a dazzling display "lu their tennis engagement against China and judging by” the form displayed by the exporents of the game, representing the four competing countries... It appears that the men' from the Land of the Rising Sun way sweep the board so far as tennis is concerned..
