Serious Charge Against Chinese

The savage attack on Mrs. J. C. Polson by a young Chinese de-- ilvery coolle on the path leading to the Stanley Terrace, Quarry Bay, on the night of August 2. 1933

recalled at Central Ho Magistracy yesterday when Man Fal alias Ho Sam Fal, allas Ho Shing Fat. 22, was charged be- tore Mr. E "W. Hamilton with caustrig grievous bodily harm to Mrs. Polson with a chopper.

Chief Detective Inspector W. Shannon appeared for the prose- cution, and the accused who wore a blank expression throughout the hearing, was not legally represent-

ed.

Dr. J. E. Dovey told the Court that at 10.15 p.in. on August 2. 1933, Mrs. J. C. Polson was ad- mitted to the Government' Civil Hospital, being brought in by Ber- geant Madgwick. At the time of admittance, Mrs. Polson was suf tering from the following injuries:

1. A severe cut on the back, of.. the head which went right, down to the bone, chipping the skull.

2. A double cut on the left shoulder cutting into the shaft of the joint, entering into the joint itself. This injury was associated with considerable blood, a number of blood vessels being cut.

3. A cut through the back of the wrist of the left forearm cutting the tendons.

4. A small cut on the upper lip. 5. A severe cut on the thigh above the left knee, and

6. A cut on the lower third of the left leg.
