Derby's Bad Luck
On the whole, Arsenal just de- served to win, but there must be gallant aympathy for the very lusers. Derby had two pieces of really bad luck. The bost shot of the match-from Bowers-hit the past. The Derby centre-forward seemed ikely to be a real danger, but a bad-knock reduced him to thereafter the half-speed and County attack was not nearly so effective.

Gladiator Moves Well: Racing

MORNING. DEW''}
Interest `in yesterday morning's gallop was heightened by the fact that the programma for Saturday is a very open one. Several of the griffins entered for St. George's Plate stand about equal chances in that race and the times they returned yester- daycare of special interest. Lemberg, the first. pony on the list, did not appear to go very well, and I'should leave him out of the possibles. Soldier of China, on the other hand, moved nicely and has"a strong claim." The same remarky may be ap- plied to Soldier of Germany.” Gladiator moved nicely and his six furlongs recorded below represents the latter part of a mile gallop. Electric Star, also went very well and there are many who feet that the weight will not stop him on Saturday.
With regard to the Australian ponies, Racing Heart showed a great burst of speed in his tryout and will be a danger to the -favourites on. Saturday. His six furlongs of 1.31.1 was effortless. Neither Bronze Era nor Able Amazon, his nearest rivals, were galloped yesterday, though both are in top condition.
"Of the other gallops, The Carp. Hey Tor, St. Ives, Copper Idol and Cavalcade moved well.
