Show
Studded with lovely girls, beauti- ful-revue numbers and photographic wonders, "I Am Suzanne!" Jesse L. Lasky's latest Fox Film produc- tion appeared on the screen of the King's Theatre to-day. If offered a perfect setting in which Lilian Harvey, the internationally famous star, did indeed shme with a great- er brilliance than ever before, either In Hollywood or in Europe. The film, with its background of Parisian night life and the Podresca. Piccoli Marionettes, offers Miss Harvey a splendid opportun- Ity to display her versatility and she too's full advantage of this op- portunity to thrill yesterday's au- dience.
. The story of "I Am Suzanne !" concerns itself with the love of a young dancer' and a young, mem- ber of a declining family of pup- peteers. The star leave the stage to join the puppet how, and all is well intli she discovers that the love and praise of her sweetheart is directed toward her puppet rather than to her. She becom ES infuriated. destroys the puppet and leaves the show to return once more to the stage. The lovers meet again, when they find them- selves in the same production. The
star's manager fearing that the dancer's sadness will ruin the show, forces the young man to profess his love for the girl. This con- fession of love inspires the star to give a stirring performance, and to achieve unpresedented success.
Gene Raymond, who plays op- posite Miss Harvey, gives a per- formance that is easily his best to date. The other members of the cast, Lesile Banks, Georgia 'Caine. Geneva Mitchell, Halliwell Hobbes, Murray Kinnell and Edward Keana, ́all give splendid performances un- der the direction of Rowland“ V. Lee.
Sammy Lee directed the revue numbers to the tunes of St. Moritz" »Waltz”, “Just A Little; Garret" and "Esk-o-lay-11-o-mo by Frederick Hollander and For- man Brown.
