The last named did well to win the Regatta with 18 points but only after à serious challenge by the "Royals" who only one point behind. The victory of the V.R.C. was first time, they had achieved such a feat and it was the more gratifying as they revived rowing interest in the Club only last year after a lapse of about 10 years.
Of the five events, on the programme, three went to the VR.C. and the other two to the Royal Hongkong Yacht Club. The Canton Rowing Club which won the last Re- gatta held in Nocember last year, were unplaced in the only two events they had entered the Senior Pairs and Senior Fours-but it must be said that they had exceedingly bad luck. a both instances. In the former event they were delayed owing to a rigger part being damaged, and in the latter one of their members were absent owing to indisposition.
The competing crews were entertained to a dinner at Lane" Crawford's in the evening by the Royal Hongkong Yacht Club.

Midway, the Canton R. C. gave up the challenge, and it was then that the excitement arose for the V.R.C. pair were making a deter- mined effort to catch up the "Ro- yals" in which they succeeded just in the nick of time, eventually winning by a mere three feet...

Play was "very scrappy and innumerable opportunities were thrown away by both Unes of for- wards, particularly the Services. who, in the second half missed countless goals, from centres by Hocquard on the left wing and Neame on the right, wing.
A feature of the game was the brilliant display of Yeo Cheok Wah. the visiting goal-keeper, whose deadly eye and splendid smothering dives were responsible for the saving of a great many. more goals.
Outstanding Half Fan Choo Beng, the visiting left half was easily the outstanding half on display, his neat intercep- tions, reminding one of the out- standing displays of "Abbas, the Malayan Interporter.
Ong Tiang Seng, the visitors' right back was also exceptionally good, his
clearances and last

On the whole the visiting for- ward line lacked the necessary understanding. combination and particularly on the right wing where the inside and outside rights were always crossing each other's paths.

The Play
The first half opened very pro- misingly for the visitors who open- ed the scoring through Lee Tuck Soon, the right winger who cut in to net from a centre by Tlen Yuen Fong.
The Services were then promin- ent for a period with a series of raids, but Cheok Wah in goal "for the visitors and the two backs played a splendid game to prevent any immediate, scoring.
Lieut.-Comdr. Neame equalised when Corrie-Hill put the ball to him from an unmarked position, the former cutting in to net with a high shot.
In the second half the Services had the majority of play and went ahead through Cheyne who netted following a splendid centre from Hocquard.
