KEEN COMPETITIONS IN KING'S PARK

The Seventh Annual Athletic Meeting of the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps was held on Saturday on the grounds of the Kowloon Cricket Club and was attended by a very large gathering,

The various items on the pro- gramme were keenly contested and the several team races on the card provided much excitement. The open team race fell to a team from H.M.S. Cornwall who won after a close race from South Wales Borderers with the Lincolna finishing third.

The Static Machine Gunners and the Mobile Machine Gunners were in close competition for the Championship, the former win- ning by four points. The tug of war between these two teams ac- tually settled the issue, since had the Mobile Machine Gun won, they would bare tied with the Statics in points.

14

The Infantry Company finished third with seventeen points, and the Small Units scored 13 points.
