With Lilian Harvey And Gene Raymond. In Something New, Something Novel
"I am Suzanine" Jesse L Lasky's new feature for Fox commences its at the King's Theatre On Sunday. Lilian Harvey, that diminuative continental star who met with wide public acclaim in her previous American pictures "' My
Weakness" and "My Lips Betray" has the leading feminine role. Lasky's attempt at the unique in this pro- duction is evidenced by the background of the film, which is composed of Parisian revues and, the novel settings of a pupper show. The puppet show, with Podrecca's Piccoli Marionettes engaged for a major part in the production is the first of its kind to be employed in pictures. The story concerns itself with the love of a young stage star and a young man who represents a family of puppeteers. The star leaves the stage to join the puppet show' and brings success and happiness to the family of puppeteers. But instead of direc- ting his love and praise upon her, the young man devotes all of his time on her puppet. Infurlated because of his thoughtlessness, the girl retuwas to the stage. The manager of the show pleads with the young man to profess his love for the star in order to make her regain her lost spirit. He does so and inspires her to give a performance that brings happiness and understanding love."

A scene from "Little Women" coming to the King's Theatre soon.
Sylvia Bruce rates an instruc torship at the exclusive Briarcroft School for young ladies not be- cause she likes to teach French and aesthetic dancing. but be cause her late father donated a gymnasium to the school before he lost his money. There's no laughter at Briarcroft. Bylyla has smuggled a wireless set into her room strictly against the rules. "Her favourite of the air is the Listening crooner Bill Williams.
to him one night, Sylvia" decides it's about time she too had a little love and laughter. She packs her trunk and leaves Briarcroft fore- ver.
Büll Williamse, a perfect stran- ger, must be thanked for setting Sylvia Free. She bursts in on him in his New York hotel suite free. She bursts in on him in his New York hotel suite just as he is about to take a train for Holly- wood, to co-star in his first plc- ture with the Parisian actress Lill Yvonne. Sylvia falls very hard for the crooner, not knowing that at the moment he is madly in love with the tempestuous LAN, LAU happens at the moment to be minus a maid and French-spea- king Sylvia wangles a job out of her to be near Bill on the trip to Hollywood.
By the time Hollywood is reach- ed Sylvia has incurred the jealous hatered of Lili-änd the slightly funny love of Ernest, the art- bliten millionaire who is backing the scheduled picture. From Bil Williams she gets no encourage-. ment whatever
Sylvia tries all sorts of ruses to get into Bull's studio, going so far as to black up and apply for a job, with a hired Negro child, as Manny-and-Child. It amuses. Bill when he finds out, and in- furlates the French actress, Fin- ally Ernest takes pity on Bylvia and gives her an extra bit n the picture.
Conroy, the director, catches Sylvia doing a wicked but lifelike Impersonation of had-tempered Lili during lunch hour. The next time Lill throws one of her fits and holds up production, Sylvia is ordered to do the number in her place. She makes a hit. and Lif blames Bli for 1.
Bil's request for a date gives Sylvia' more happiness than her success. They end up at a Mexl- can wedding, at which Bill tells her he loves her. But it's kind. of love, with which he has always got by in the past; not the kind Bylvia wants. After that one happy night it's all over be tween them. They work together at the studio, but that is all,
Realizing he has been a fool, Bill takes to drink. His work suf- fera. Pictures are through with Lil, but Bhe isn't through with BIL She vamps him into an at- tempt to work out on his next picture with Sylvia, to go back to Paris with her Sylvia findi out about it in time. throws her pride to the winds, tracks. MAE WEST'S NEW HERO
Mae West, star of Paramount's I'm No Angel, and who has just finished her next original story- It's No Sin-has this time chosen a vastly different type of leading
man to play opposite her.
This new leading man is George Raft!
According te Miss West, Raft has the looks of Valentino, the grace of Anton Dolln and the brains of six Hollywood leading men
he is also tall, dark and handsome.
Raft, incidentally. is the only member of the cast so far chosen for It's No 8ịn. „
After Miss West had stated that she could not resist George Raft for this film, the sensational star added few other things which are always irresistible to her.
These include:-
Tall: dark handsome men, handsome" men: men; diamonds: calling policemen by their first name; writing her stories film scenarios in bed; fur coats; food and more food!
THE INIMITABLE MR.
TRACY
and
Of insignificant appearance, ́devoid of • charm in speech or manner, Lee Tracy has won a unique place on the screen by sheer force of character. He holds audiences fascluated.
Bill walks into the set and as- sumes his own role, singing “Our Big Love Scene with Bylvia and making it an actuality.
