Governor's Pony Sets Up New Record
NELL GWYN'S IMPRESSIVE RUN AT
FIRST EXTRA RACE MEETING
Woodland Stag's Great Victory
In Final Race
(BY "MORNING DEW")
The prediction that the new Australian ponies were much superior to those which have previously raced here, was amply borne out when in a race for hitherto unsuc cessful Australian ponies, Nell Gwyn broke the record for the mile, lowering the previous best time by a matter of 3.2 seconds. This is the first time that the new Australian ponies have appeared on a dry track in Hong Kong, and it looks very much as if further records are to be broken."
Mr. Leo Frost, who will be leaving Hong Kong on holi day to-morrow, headed the list of winning jockeys by securing two firsts and two seconds. He started in the last event on Woodland Stag and won the ex-Champion Australian coming time of her career.
The " Daily Doubles fell to two favourites, with the result that those who successfully spotted the two ponies were rewarded with the comparatively small dividend of $23.
