HIGH-VOLTAGE PICTURE
Clark Gable At His Best
Clark Gable, idol of America's feminine filmgoers, appears for the first time in a Para- mount picture as the star of "No Man of Her Own," which will open at Alhambra Theatre to-morrow,
As "Babe Stewart, big-stake gambler with cards and women, Gabla adds to his laurels" with a finty characterization which ranks with the best roles, he has done. He is given unusually competent support by Carole Lombard and Dorothy Mackaill, as the conflicting feminine forces in his life and by favourite screen veterans like Grant Mitchell, George Barbier and J. Farrell McDonald. Wesley Rug- gles directed from an original screen play by Edmund Goulding and Benjamin Glazer.
Miss Mackaill, as Kay Everley, is a "come-on" for Gable in his high-stakes. card games. Police learn of the racket and make it sc hot for Gable that he leaves town for a time. At sleepy little Glen- dale, the hiding place, which he picks by the simple expedient of sticking a pin fato a railroad timetable, Gable meets Carole Lom- bard, playing the role of Connie Randall, a libarian. This time it's lore, although originally Gable married the girl with some sort of, a love 'em and leave 'em" idea in mind.
Marian Nixon is either hearing so thing or seeing something that seems to amaze her in her role in "Dacter: Bull," the new For production starring Will Rogers.

With Baby "Spanky" re- cuperating from a alege of hoop- ing cough and 'with several new faces in the popular group, the gang will start off the year 1934 with a heavy production schedule to offset the time lost as a result of its little leading man's illness.
Lasky Insures 60 Chorus Girls For A Total Of $1,200,000-
They return to the big city where, 1 ASKY INSURES CHORU Carole, quite unconsciously, helps Gable fleece-his lambs. But the not. begins to close again around the gambler. He makes a compromise. with the police, realizing that his feeling for Carole is love. How the tangled skein is unravelled makes for high-voltage entertainment which this reviewer mjoyed and so, probably, will you.
WYNNE GIBSON IN "SLEEPERS EAST"
After combing the availability, lists for weeks, Col M. Wurzel, executive producer for Fox. decided on Wynne Gibson for the leading role in "Sleepers East," the film adaptation of Frederick Nebel's best seller. Kenneth MacKenna will direct the pro- duction.
Jesse L. Lasky insured a group of 60 chorus girls who are to be seen in his forthcomming "I Am Suzanne!"
$20,000 each, making a group total of $1.200.- 000.
for
These girls will be seen in a revue scene with Lillan Harvey. The setting represents a St. Moritz background with a gigan tic slide, resembling a fast bob- sled course, down which all 60 girls are to slide:
The number will be a dificult one and Rowland V. Lee, who is directing, admits, there is an element of danger in it. For that reason Lasky took out the policy covering the length
of time it takes to fillm the scene.
