DOUMERGUE-THE MAN FOR A CRISIS
Forecasts of the New Cabinet
IMMEDIATE ACTION IMPERATIVE
TO SOLVE PROBLEMS
(Special to "Hong Kong Dally Press")

Paris, February 9.
M. Doumergue assembled on Friday forenoon all party leaders belonging to the Chamber and senate in order to draw up a list of new members of the cabinet.
The
mode of procedure confirmed what had been said on Thursday in parliamentary circles, namely that M. Dou- mergue aims at having in the new Government répre- sentative of all political opinions.
A mid-day paper predicts that the Cabinet will appro- ximately have the following composition, though 11th hour changes are by no means impossible:
Premier M. Doumergue.
Minister of Foreign Affairs: Barthou.
Minister of Home Affairs: Sarrant or Laval.
Minister of Public Works: Tardicu. -
Minister of Justice: Cheron or Mattern.
General State Prosecutor at the Supreme Court of Appeal and Public Instructions: Heriott
Minister for War: Marshall Petain.
Minister for Aviation: General Vuillemain" or General Denain.
Minister of Finances: Rit, Deputy Governor of the Bank de France.
Doutry: General Director of the French State Rail- ways, Minister of Traffic.
H
This seems also to confirm his intention to restrict the Cabinet to sixteen portfolios and abolish State Secretary- ships.
The Senate promises accord to Doumergue and cordial loyal support. The idea of the immediate dissolution of the Chamber, first proposed by Right Parties now seems to be gaining favour among Le. Parties in the Senate also. At any rate, it is confidently expected the Cabinet will be complete in the course of Friday.
M. Doumergue, is being hailed by the entire Press as the only man capable of rescuing France from her pre- sent crisis, which is much graver than that of 1926--that which arose through depreciation of the French Franc→→ because to-day all the nation's problems clamour for a solution at the same time, political unrest at home an un- balance budget, empty treasuries, a maximum number of complications in Foreign Affairs all demanding straighten- ing without the least delay, but Deumergue is universally popular for his friendly smile and unfailing optimism.- Transocean Kuo Min,
