The market closed at lunch time with tellers at 1/8 1/32 February and 1/8 1/16 March, buyers at 1/6 3/32 February and probably March.

REDUCE
New Rates For Suez
It is announced to-day by the Suez Canal Company that as from April 1 dues, on ships passing through the canal with cargo will be reduced by 25 centimes gold per net register ton (Suez Canal measurement) and the dues "on ballest ships passing through f will be reduced by 12 centimes gold.
The new rates will thus become 5.75 franes gold on ships
with
cargo and 2.87 francs gold on ships in ballast.
More Shipping Last Year. "The latest figures of the Suez Canal Company. show that 5,423 transits were made during 1933, an increase of 391 over the pre- vious year.
The increased use of the' canal during the past year can be partly $1.80 explained by increased shipments of rice, maize, and anthracite from Indo-China and larger ship- ments of ground nuts and linseed from India.

We think the market was able to take the most aubstantial amount of profit-taking without" materially weakening its position. Sentiment was not as divided as it was a week ago. Everyone thinks that averages are going considerably higher before.. a substantial check is encountered. We think, however, that we would be inclined to maintain a trading attitude.
Wheat: The market is again vulnerable to a change of sentiment. Cotton: Strong and active, advancing to new high levels, which advance was not maintained, due to heavy realising. Bentiment waaquite reactionary at the close.
Silver: Easier early on, due to the weakness of the Franc, renewed liquidation by tired long operators and commission house selling. Partial rallies developed in sympathy with stocks. The up-turn met with renew2 ed selling.
International Nickel declares a dividend of ten cents per share.. Business Done: 4,940,000 shares.
