Piece Goods.

More interest has been shown in the market during the past week, and several sales of spririg stock goods have been reported. There has also been some enquiry for Velvets for forward delivery and a fair weight of business booked. Deliveries are still very slow, but stocks of Black Italians and Tien- tsin Twilla are being cleared.

axia Landa, Limited, received has the following report form their New York correspondente, E. A. Pierce & Co. The pace was somewhat slower today, particularly in industrials, which is logical enough after yesterday's sharp advance. Hails remained surprisingly strong. General business news continues satisfactory, with farther evidence of a surprising amount of retail purchasing in this traditionally dull merchandising month.

Wheat: The lack of fresh news from Washington had some sentimen❤ tal effect. However, the andertone was firm throughout the session. Brokers are generally regarding the set-back as only natural after the recent advance.

Cotton: Considering the extent of the selling, the market acted well and we see nothing in the immediate situation to warrant any important decline. We believe the possibilities are on the long side.

Silver: The dealine in the London parity caused an overnight accumulation of selling orders. When these were digested prices steadied, in spite of the early afternoon decline in sterling Futures displayed continued steadiness.!
