The theme of "Rafter Romance" entertainingly refreshing
with its spicy intrigue. Mary Car- roll and Jack Bacon are obliged to share a Greenwich Village attic room together-but with the ene tire propilets Jack, £ struggling artist. is a night watchman from PM. to & AM, during which Mary has the room; Mary is an ice-box salesgirl the other half of the day when Jack occupies the room. They neither know, nor see each other, intensely despise each. other, an animosity born of nasty rotes annoying pranks and caus- tie opinions passed through the landlord.
Jack and Mary meet outside" their garret abode, however, una- ware of their attic enmity. While, antipathy rages indoors, a love afta progresses outside. Both situations come to climax simul- taneously when they learn each other's real identity

"Penthouse" the Metro Goldwyn Mayer film which is now being shown at the Queen's theatre is most in- teresting It has been compared by Orities to be equally as delightful as "42nd Street", and we do not hesitate to endorse their opinioa The story revolves around New York's night life and is fascinating -the cast is an exceptically strong one, the leads being taken care of by Warner Baxter and Myrna Loy. Warner is cast as the iociety law- yer, and as such does some remark- able acting. Miss Loy is Gertie Waxted and a friend of the lawyer. She becomes attached to him, and he eventually falls in love with her after bis fiancee turns him down
