NAVAL
WEDDING
Admiral's Son Married at St. NEW GERMAN
John's Cathedral
LT. RICHARD DREYER AND MISS
MARJORIE HOLME-SUMNER
Quite the smartest wedding celebrated in Hong Kong for many a long day was solemnised at St. John Cathedral yesterday when Miss, Marjorie Jean Berkeley Holme Sumner, daughter of Capt. "Berkeley Holme- Sumner, C.B.E., R.N., (retired) became the bride of Lt. Richard Christopher John Dreyer, R.N., son of Ad- miral Sir Frederic Dreyer and Lady Dreyer
The wedding was arranged for three o'clock, but long before that hour, friends turned up at the Cathedral in a steady stream so that by the time the bride arrived on the arm of Capt. C. G. Sedgwick, R.N., the church. was packed. Although many of Hong Kong's leading re- sidents attended in the conventional morning coat, da blue and gold was the predominant colour and indeed the scene was not unlike that of a naval function at Home, all the officers attending in full dress-uniform..
The ceremony was conducted by the Very Rev. Dean Alfred Swank and Rev. Dodwell, H.M.S. Berwick.

· RECEPTION ON FLAGSHIP
а
Holme-Sumner made very charming bride and as she entered the Cathedral on the arm of Capt. Sedgwick, more than one was lady in the congregation
·heard to remark, "Oh, bow
sweet!” She was attired in a goon of cartel ivory satir, finish-
ed at the neck with large gold beads. The vell was in lovely rich gold, hanging from amedieval .cape, richly embroidered with heads which gave it a gintillating effect. She was attended by her sister, Miss G. Holme-Sumner who wore a dress of gold tissue with long niettens of
while lace. Master G. B. Tours and Master John Hole made two extremely spruce pages.
The duties of the best man were discharged by Lt. F. W. R. Larken, HLM.S. Berwick, and as the happy couple came out of the Cathedral, they walked through an archway of crossed-swords, formed by the groom's brother officers.
At the entrance to. Garden Road, Just outside the Cathedral, the Admiral's car was waiting for the bride and groom, but instead af proceeding under its own power, the car was dragged to the Naval Yard by a party of naval ratings who thoroughly enjoyed the pro- ceedings.
