Lord Belhaven and Stenton con- gratulated the Grand faster, and said be considered it a privilege as well as a pleasure to be the first to do so. Lord Saltoun's father had been Grand Master Mason of Scot Land, and he maintained his interest in Freemasonry to the last day of his life. He rendered most distin guished service as a Scottish Free- Inason. Now that the succession had fallen upon Lord Saltoun they felt that in the futuro the duties of his high office would be carried out in the very best possible manner to the honour of the craft, in Scotland and the maintenance of the genuine tenets of Freemasonry throughout the world. (Applause.)
A Proud Moment
The Grand Master, in replying. said that ibis moment was the proudest moment of his life. There never had been a moment when he had not felt that they had made him feel that he was welcome in Grand Lodge. If his love for Grand Lodge and his friendship for them was any guarantee of a successful year he thought he might hope. He spoke of Minscriryin various part of the world and the institutions carried on by the craft in Sweden and other countries, and said that Scotland had fully a quar- ter of a million Masons. It had no great Masonic institutions. That might come some day. That was a dream of the future.
