One cannot have a new even- ing gown without a new pair of slippers otherwise the effect cutest would be spoiled! The shoes I have seen lately were at Lane Crawfords. They have the smartest dancing shoes in any design Very cut down sliver sandals with no toe should make. the most unattractive foot lock smart. Then there were faille ones also in open work as well as some black satin sandals. But what I liked best of all were some faille shoes with four inch high spike heels! Looked pretty dangerous to me but I was told that they had a steel framework. of steel down the centre of the heel so that allayed my distrust of them.
FELIX
A sale is going to come sorne- time next week and I for one will certainly be there, they've got such dinky little hats. Brown seems to be the populär colour with bright feathers stuck in at a smart angle. Some cute evening hats of gold and silver tinsel were temptinglyplaced on display "just asking to be tried on I might mention that their morning dresses are something worth buying. Most of them are Hght woollen ones in the latest style. There was one particular- ly chic. made of wine-coloured wool with white trimmings; and yet another. in the popular black and white combination.
DOLLY VARDEN
From January, the first Dolly Varden is having a sale so the prospective shoppers bad better keep their eyes open. Knitted suits, scarves and hats" to match were amongst the first things that caught my eye. Of course there were also the evening gowns which always play such an important role. There were two that would have looked gor- geous on a blonde, one being all of lace over a satin slip, and an- other of apricot taffeta with big puffed sleeves, just the thing for a New Eve's dance.

The rain and the mud need no longer spoil our shoes. Gordon's have just unpacked an assort- ment of washable. elk ones. White

MISS NAYLOR'S, IMPORTER OF DRESSES
Miss Naylor has some evening creations straight from New York. As dull crepe seems to be all the craze, most of the dresses just received are of that heavy dull crepe that is really rather striking. For instance there was one that could make any girl Jealous of its possessor: made of the afforsaid crepe of rich yet- low colour with black velvet straps criss-crossed at the back. "and a bunch of black velvet flowers on the breast gave it that finishing touch which makes a perfect dress.

With the New Year coming on most of us will write our yearly wishes for "a happy new year".. to all our tiresome relations etc. If you should run out of paper at all, you ought to visit Whitea- ways as they have some dinky assortment in most tempting de- signs.
