HOLLYWOOD FOR ELSTREE
Handsome American Star For B.I.P.
David Manners, the handsome young American star, is to arrive in England from Hollywood to com- mence work on November 22nd In the new British International film "Contraband" based on the play by Commander Horton Giddy. It is the story of a newly mar- ried king of decrepit physique who, living in exile, is married to a love- ly young woman. She marries him for convenience, but suddenly when he is recalled to his throne, she realises that she must be a wife to him in the full sense of the term. She meets and falls in love with a young ship's officer while on the way to her husband's native land and the happy ending comes when the king's ministers discover that it would be better to apnul the marriage because no commoner can be a really suit- able queen.
David Manners will play oppos- ite lovely Camilla Horn. with George Grossmith, Hugh Wake- field and Reginald Purdell in the supporting cast.
Robert Milton, the man who made Hollywood's film of Sutton Vane's Outward Bourid," after" wards banned by the British Cen- sor, although it was an admittedly beautiful plece of work; will direct "Contraband

Proof of this will be seen in TMM NO ANGEL her latest film. The dialogue is so spontaneously witty that some of her aphorisms will soon become, popular catch- words.
Under her new contract with Paramount, Miss West has a voice in the direction, of her pictures. although she has the benefit of expert directors. She selects her own-songs, a number of which' she sings in I'M NO ANGEL, for she has a good practical know- ledge of music.
