The fall in the note circulation Is about £4.2 million as compared with a decline of just ünder £2 million in the corresponding week of 1932, but the amount of notes now outstanding. is nearly £10 milion more than a year ago. Asia Landa, Limited, has received the following report form their New "York correspondents, E. A Pierce & Co. Frankly, it is puzzling the market and it is very difficult to discover the factors which are influencing. senti- ment. Opinion is by no means unanimously bullish and the business out- look is variously interpreted. Those who believe that the market is high enough claim that, even should there be an improvement after the first of the year, prices as a whole have discounted that expectation with the rise from the low levels of October and think that s8 as a low industrial aver÷ age would constitute the trading limit; that is, if the reaction should carry below that point, it would be an unfavourable signal.

Whes::Scattered selling appeared and there was no covering of stop- loss orders, causing a sharp dip in late trade.

Cotton: The market was largely a trading affair and speculators are apparently disposed to swait new developmenta

Silver: The resumption of inflationary talk steadied the market. Commission houses were the principal buyers, while banks and producers were sellers Loans have increased by $37, 0,00 Concerning stabiliza- tion, Mr. Morgenthan said this morning that he knew nothing about the report that the Dollar was about to be stabilised and he stated that it is not regarded as imminent. On the other hand, if anything is done, it is not expected to be above the rate of the so-called Fifty-cent Dollar. Business Done: 1,050,000 shares,
