FORMER "ZEEBRUGGE SHIP"

The Royal Daffodil, one of the two Wallasey ferry boats which took part in the attack on Zee- brugge in 1918, has left the Mersey for the first time since she left an that adventure. This time she will not return. After 27 year's. service she was bought by the New Medway Steam Packet Company Rochester, and next summer will make pleasure trips between Ro chester and Southend. The boat cost £1,150 to build, in 1908, and is stated to have been sold for about £3,500. The bronze tablet recording the Zeebrugge exploit and the ship's bell have been re- moved, and will be preserved by the Wallasey Corporation,

A new set of regulations govern- ing the admission of students in- to the Institute of Marine Engin eers has been issued, following on the incorporation of the Institute by Royal Charter in March Tast. Candidates who must be under 25 years of age and have complet- ed at least one year of attendance at day or evening classes in engin- eering or naval architecture, will be required to pass an examing- tion in English and general know- ledge, mathematics, applied me- chanics, machine drawing, heat engines, and electrical engineering.
