Gold Key Beaten In Exciting Finish At Macao

MISS BERYN FAIR WINS LADIES RACE ON ESK

(BY."MORNING DEW'')

Favourites had a good day at Macao where there was a fairly good attendance at the last extra race meet- ing of the season.

There were many racing enthusiasts at the course, including Messrs. G. H. Poits, W. G. Pirie, H. B. L. Dowbiggin, P. M. Hodgson, H. H. H. Priestley, A. E. S. Alves, and A. H. Carroll.

Mr. A. J. P. Heard and Mr. Leo Frost were among the jockeys and won a couple of races each. Mr. P. P. Botelho won the novices event while the ladies race. which drew nine starters fell to Miss Beryn Fair who won a clever race on Esk..

PURE MUSIC WINS EASILY

Pure Music proved too good for the opening event and Mr. P. P. Botelho had no difficulty in win- ning with this pony. So On (Mr." Carroll up led most of the way, but tired rapidly in the straight to finish third behind Pure Music.

FROST WINS.

In the second race Mr. Carroll riding The Loafer, again led the field, closely followed by City of Shanghai (Mr. Frost up.) In the home straight, Baguio challenged the favourite but although he ran very gamely, could. only finish second "The Loafer just Anished in front of Good Sport for third place.

WAKEFIELD'S WIN. Wakefeld's victory in the third race was an exciting affair. The field of five were almost together

only finish third. The time for this race (D" Class) of 1.31.2 was distinctly on the fast side.

LADIES' RACE. Esk ridden by Miss Beryn Fair was content to his second behind "The Loafer (Miss Alabaster) most of the way round in the ladies' event. Esk passed the leader in the straight and stalled off a hot challenge from Gallant Fox (Miss Dówbiggin). The Loafer Joan finished third-

City of Shanghai finished fourth and Christmas Belle, fifth
