Seen this Week Local Shops
GORDON'S SHOE STORE. They have a new batch of and gloves in various colours styles. There are some excellent black kid with white stitching, as well as some smart white with cuffs and the tiniest barder in black, with others in browns.
Some "gorgeous silk stockings, also in the newest net hosiery. Their prices are so astonishingly low that one can afford several.. pairs. Their Van Raalte under- .wear makes a ideal Xmas gift.
MADAME D'ORBRY.
For furs, I don't think one could do better than call in at Mme." O'Drbry's. Such a selection ofcoats, capes and necklets you have never seen, in so many new styles and in such a lovely range and quality of fur-Squirrel, Marmot, Broadtail, Seal, Caricule char, as well as several of the Russian furs. I also noticed some Van Raalte underwear and stock- ings which I thought very cheap. Amongst her evening dresses, there was a particularly stunning one in black and white, also some rather smart afternoon gowns.
WHITEAWAY LAIDLAW.SO
You really should see the hats which Whiteaway's have, on dis- play. Quite the latest, some cocked over one ear and others. sitting forward. од the hair. Their linens, too, are lovely and they have the softest blankets at most reasonable prices. By the way, it would be worth while go- ing to see their Xmas novelties, amongst which are the cutest little night-dress sachets in the form of bunnies, and the rip- ping fancy boxes containing a pair of sheets and pillow cases in colour embroidery..
LANE, CRAWFORD'S..
For sports coats you can not do better than visit Lane Craw- ford's. They are in wonderful tweeds in the greatest variety of shades and checks and in the snapplest style and cut. All have those storm collars that are so much in demand. Prices are round about $40.00. They also have the most becoming: It hats which will towel with the tweeds,
MAIZEE'S.
Have you paid "Malzees," a call? Our latest shop in town. You know, they have some ex- quisite sequin bägs in gold as well as other Copping · evening bags. One particularly caught my eye. It was made of pearls and had a zip fastener at the end of which
there were two large pearls, "Maize also has some lovely ornamental jewellery and SO cheap-just the sart of little things if you are having a Christ- mas tree. In fact, some of the diamond bracelets look so good it was hard to believe they were only paste. To go with the ever- ing baga, which I have just told you about, there are some sequin evening capes.
FELIX.
While looking around the shops the other day to see what I could buy for myself for Christmas. I saw some of the most attractive dresses in Felix's. In fact, every- thing was so chic in its own way that it was really hard to decide which was the nicest. Madame had some of the latest Bramble Sults--Scotch kalt-a cute Ute coat and skirt complete with the, sweetest of jumpers. I also no- ticed rather an "unusual, frock, Just the thing for these chilly mornings. It was black; trimmed with white kid 'collar and cuffs. Another dress which I thought a boon for the working girl was of saxe blue wool, with whits» de- tachable collar and, cums, She also had some two-plece suits with semi leg-of-mutton sleeves and some lovely little tweed suits.
DOLLY VARDON.
Evening gowns seem to be the feature these days. Dolly Var- don's have a gorgeous thing in Feach Broderie with Anglais lace. There are some new gowns in the new Faille silk in dinner dresses which are quite smart too. Black seems quite popular and they also received "a small shipment of jumpers in various shades which are reasonable.
MISS ŃAYLOR'S AT GORDON'S.
A lovely assortment of evening gowns were received, the other day, prices from 825 to 395. To make room for new stocks, Miss Naylor has drastically cut the prices of dresses (both evening and day.) She has, also after- noon dresses, so attractive and ranging from $20 to $50. She is also allowing 5 per cent, on all cash transactioris,

BOWS AGAIN
Bowe are fashionable again.. As wore to-day bows can be. made of almost any kind of material, and they certainly add just that final, little touch to modern clothes. Reminiscent of; baby's. "'sleeve ties" are, the bows. on the shoulders of the printed satin evening dresses. But they must be fat not the huge butter- fly affairs of organdie which we. wore last season. A bow lends height to the black velvet hat and achieves that piled up effect which is so popular this year.

LACE · HOLDS ITS OWN Lace is holding its own in the fashion parades. The woman who must do with few dresses has a great affection for black lace, and so far from appearing too "matronly" this can be the most youthful looking thing im- aginable, always providing it is not over trimmed. A diamante buckle fastening the waist belt, is the only adornmeno permitted. on the best new models Lace Ja used for the gracefu nchus and softly falling, beck-frills which are part and parcel of our more feminine fashions It Is deligizt).
