TRAINING GALLOPS

Fast Work At Happy Valley LOCAL FOOTBALL

By Australian Ponies

(BY "MORNING DEW”

There were several very fast gallops at Happy Valley yesterday, particularly by Australian ponies.

Lucy Glitters covered a fast mile, doing the distance in 2.03.1 and finishing the last quarter in 29 seconds.

Another fast and impressive-gallop was that of Rogy Morn, who taken over a mile in 2.04, finishing the last quarter com- fortably in 29 seconds..

Tecumseh was sent over a fast three quarters of a mile which he covered in 1.34.4, Bnishing strongly.

Portia was taken over three quarters of a mile, but he was only sped in the last quarter which he took 27.1 second to cover. If there is any doubt as to Liberty Bay's condition (there was some rumour floating around last week) it has now been definite ly dispelled by his splendid rallop at the course yesterday,

The Goat covered a fast three quarters but his finish was not too impressive. ·

King Salmon was sent over a mile and he did his work as though he liked it..

Other ponies which impressed were Friar Tuck, Don, King's Bounty and Iron Gray"

Edinburgh, Nov. 6.

Scout bats or the Balmoral Bonnet? This is the issue that led yesterday to the revolt of the Scouts of Scotland. #

Maas resignations are now ex- pected to follow the insistence of Lord Baden Powell and the Imper-. ial Scout Headquarters in the wear ing of the official uniform, and the battle, it is feared, may wreck the senior movement.

....

The crisis is a sequel to what was originally merely a request by Lord Baden Powell, which the majority. of Scottish Rovers were content simply to ignore.

Now that the request has become an order, however, a feeling of revolt has spread throughout Scot- land, and resignations on a whole. sale scale are regarded se inevitable.
