I had about an hour to spare last evening so I thought it would not be a bad idea to pay a visit to the Fair or Tai's Carnival, to give it the proper name, So away I went, in the highest of spirits and feeling like a school-boy once again. First of all, a trip to Hongkong was necessary as a friend wanted come along and I had to meet him, and would you believe it, we saw dozens on the ferry boat, wearing the "Going-to-the-Fair look.
When we arrived at the carnival ground, I tried a ride on the ferris wheel just by way of working up an appetite for the other side shows, and what time I had. It was all right, going up, but on the way rione, one felt like being on the high seas in a small boat during a bad typhoon! The other people did not seem to mind it though-in fact if I were to pass an opinion, I would say that they enjoyed it im- mensely, judging by the way some of them behaved. When somebody wants to get out, it is no fun to be at the top-most erat, but there were two sailors who were in the best of spirits (I do not know if they had any in them but I should imagine so!) and they seemed to like rock- ing about as if they were on a rocking chair on terra firma! As for myself, give me Mother Earth

Then there was a party of young fellows who had obviously dined very well but not too wisely. OPENING OF GERMAN PRINTERIE
Peiping, November 20. The formal opening of the' ex- hibition of modern German artis- tic printing, arranged by the Sino-German Institute in col- operation with the Chinese Na- tiinal Library, took place here to-
day.
Dr. 0. Trautmann, German
Minister to. China, in his inaug- ural speech pointed out that this exhibition is the final result of plans attached in Germany to the furthering of cultural relations with China.
He expressed the hope that the wide range of exhibits would also show new ways for a similar de- velopment of artistic Chinese printing.
The exhibition will be shown in various other important Chin- ese cities. All exhibits then will
