The recent robbery at Bincere Company when 10 cameras and 10 pairs of binoculars to the value of about 82,300 had 2. sequel at yesterday Central Magistracy when

unemployed houseboy named Li Kwal was charged be fore Mr. S. F. Balfour with the

theft of the goods and with re-

ceiving a camera knowing it to have been stolen from the Sincere Company.

After hearing the evidence of the prosecution, and the defendant's! story, his Worship discharged the defendant on the first count, and reserved his decision on the sec- ond until 10 am, to-day.

Outlining the facts of the case. Inspector J. Murphy, who pro- secuted said that on the 7th

September between 8 and 10 p.m. some persons broke into the first 'Bloor of Sincere Company and stole 10 cameras and 10 pairs of pinoculars to the value of about $2,370.

About a month later informa- tion was received by the Sincere Company from their Canton branch to the effect that a man had offered to sell them cameras similar to those stolen. The man was detained and on his informa tion a man named Lo Chat was arrested in Canton and defendent in Macao. The defendant when ar- rested told - a Chinese detective that he only had one camera and that he had sold it for $15. The camera had been recovered.

To Yuk, a cook employed on board the 8.5. Lungahan then gave evidence. He said that he had known the defendant for about four years, and about three

INTERPORT CRICKET MATCHES & THE K.C.C.

Visitors Say Its A Better Ground

(By Our Special Correspondent)

The interport cricket matches are now a thing of the past but they are being lived over again in Clubs, drawing romas, hotels, schools and in fact, everywhere that cricket en thusiasts gather. The merits and demerits are discussed, and opinions naturally vary as to why Hong Kong should have beaten the Mala- yans or why the Northerners should have taken the Hong Kong dag

away.

In one thing though, public opinion appears to he manimous, and that is, the proper place where the interport games should be held is the "Kowloon Cricket ground. I am fully in agreement with this ides and will give my rea- sons why.

Club

In the first place, the ground 10 King's Park is much bigger than the Club's while the wicket is said to be better. It certainly wears conversation better, and "from with some of the Malayan players, I learnt that it plays better than that on which the interport was played.

Then we have the question of light, and maintain that this is jast na important, if not more so, than the wicket. Due to the fact that it is more in the open, the light at K.C.C. is infinitely better. For argument sake. I will bring forth the question of the shadows that one finds on the Club ground

at about 4 o'clock in the afternoon. With the Supreme Court less than twenty yards away, to say nothing of the present Hong Kong Bank building, the shadows creep on very rapidly when the sun gets towards the west about this time. The re- sult is that it is rather hard to see the ball, especially when batting from the Naval Yard end, as there is also the glare to contend with.

is

In Kowloon we have none of this, True, there are buildings all round the ground, but they are far away enough, and again they are not in the way of the sun, whether otte is batting in the morning or the after-

מספת

The biggest advantage of playing on the K.C.C. ground is that there is not so much noise as that made by the tram ears and buses, though occasionally a train coming in Kowloon or going out does maks a little noise.

to

Acovered stand could be eracted all along the cinder track on this ground, while another matshed may be put up in the vicinity of the tennis courts at the back of the pavilion where teas and tiffins may be had.
