President Roosevelt intends to give the Gold Plan a full and unfettered trial, assisted exclusively by sympa thetic officials, and Washington correspondents hail the President as "probably "America's shrewdest and fertilest political strategist."
Mr. Dean Acheson is alleged to have been very surprised when he learned of his resignation and says he is no more doubtful of the wisdom regarding the Gold Plan than others who are remaining in the service, on account of persons' devotion to President Roosevelt.
Mr. Acheson a friend of J. P. Morgan and the other bankers who" denounced the Reconstruction Finance Corporation purchases of gold as illegal. Mr. Mor gonthau is an intimate friend of President Roosevelt and ad ex-pupil of Professor Warron of the Brain Trust.
