The increase of over, Y82,000,000 in exports to America stands out, As far as the value is concerned.
This is due largely to heavy ship ments of raw silk the amount of which represents an increase of over Y33,000,000 compared with a year ago. Canned goods have recorded an increase of approximately Y8,000,000. Such articles as fatty oil, silk and rayon, porcelain and toys have also been some gain. Next comes the increase of Y45,984,000 in trade with the Dutch East Indies The headway made by such articles as cotton cloth, ironwares, tyres and beer accounts for it. Particu- larly noteworthy is the increase of Y24,000,000 in cotton cloth exporta. Increased shipments of canned gooda, raw silk, knitted goods and rayon mixed cloth have brought up the total value of exports to Bri- tain.
