THE LAST

G. S. Dunkley, run out 6 and that meant the end of the Hongkong-Malaya interport match, and defeat « for the local team by 14 runs. It was a tame ending to what at one stage, promised to be a very exciting strug- gle. It was somewhat disappointing for the Hongkong supporters, but after Owen Hughes left when play was resumed after lunch, it seemed all over for us, though a bright, though definitely lucky innings by Minu brought back a faint ray of hope.

-་

Dunkley made a mistake when he called for that fatal run, but at such a stage, when he doubtless was anxious to get every possible run, it was a mistake that anybody might have made.

MINU'S MERRY INNINGS

A very strong sun was shining when Fincher and Duckitt resum-

Again the Malayan skipper favoured a double change, bring- ing on Spladewinde in place of Willis. Pearce hit his third ball very hard to Alvis at cover point and the fieldsmah returned it ra- ther too high, giving Pearce a cumshay' four, the forty being signalled simultaneously.

Six Interport

Points

(BY L. B. W.) The following are six points of yesterday's play

1. That Hongkong's batting was deplorably weak, and drastic changes must be made if we are to put up a better show against Shanghai;

2. That Redmond, Garth waite and Hamilton failed to do themselves justice;

3. That in putting on Mor- gan when he did, "Hamilton took a great risk;

4. That Gill is the most. consistent

bowler in the Malayan team;

5. That Mina's stout-heart- ed, though lucky knock almost won the game for Hongkong; and

6. That, going for the runs when they had plenty of time
