Ha be gan his seafaring career in 1990 at the age of 16, and sailed in ships to North and South America, the East Indies and Australia for many On December 6, 1999, he years. joined the Hamburg-Amerika Line a fourth officer of the steamer Graf-Waldersse, and in March, 1901, he obtained his master's paperя.
