SATURDAY'S TRAINING
GALLOPS
GOLDEN DRAGON & MAYFLOWER
IN GREAT FETTLE
Saturday's gallops at the Happy Valley course were on the slow side, but one or two candidates showed very good form. Golden Dragon going over a taile with Black Velvet and No Fear finished well ahead of them and appears to be in great form at the moment.
Warrington also had a close finish with Black Rock, while Mayflower ran very well over the three quarters. Trentbridge went over slow work, taking 1.38 over three quarters, but his last half mile" was 1.02.
De Minimis and Hey Tor went together and covered the ile and quarter in convincing manuer, and one of these two are sure to start in the subscription griffins challenge cup. The following are the times "clock" on Saturday

crowd of 8,000 the semi-final between Perry and Stoeffen, In the American Singles Championship, resulted in a win for Perry by 6-3; 6-2, 6-2. -
This is Stoeffen's heaviest de- feat. Perry's brilliant back hand and forehand strokes kept Stoffen continually on the run.
1. In the other semi-final Crawford beat Shields by 7-5, 6-4, 6-3. Craw- ford's most steady and machine- like backhand was more accurate than Shields who played a fost game but was ousted by the back- handers monotonous regularity.
