KOWLOON TONG
CHURCH
Hallowing By The Bishop
IMPRESSIVE SERVICE
May God bless you all in, Kow- boon Tong. May you all know that power of the Laving Spirit of God which the early Christians knew when they too, met in a house to worship God."
These words are part of a special message issued by the Rev. Ronald Hall, Bishop of the Diocese, to the people of Kowloon Tang when he officiated at the special ceremony of hallowing the new church which the zealous Christian endeavours of the people of that district, aided by the main local Anglican body, have been responsible for instituting.
The service took place at six o'clock on Saturday evening and was extremely well attended. The church, or chapel is perhaps the better word, is in a house in Duke and Street, Kowloon Tong area, presented a very fine appearance for the initial service; the writer was rather reminded of the private chapels which still fortunately adorn many of the old country houses. of England." It is evident that much hard work has been done by the committee of this new ven- tare, for, although the idea of a church has been in the minds of the
people for a considerable time, the actual work of arranging the room, building the alter, and making other, necessary furniture and fit tings, has been accomplished in about three weeks..
Order of Service
The order of service for the hal- swing ceremony commenced by the Bishop proceeding to the Sanctuary during the singing of the hymn "Come, thou holy Paraclete." The Bishop was accompanied from the vestry by lay representatives and clergy and these included the Rev. N. V. Halward, Priest in Charge of the Church, the Rev. Lee Kau- yan, of St. Stephen's Church, the Rev. L. L. Nast, Chaplain of The Diocesan Boys' School, the Rev. Frank Short, London Missionary Society, Mr. J. H. Hunt, Mr. C. B. Sargent, and Mr, J. W. Baldwin, Laymen. Then followed RD address by the Bishop., an address more of encouragement and welcome to the church members than an explanation as to why the branch has been started, and an address that could not do other than instill into the minds of the congregation the necessity of, fur- thering the aims of Christianity both here and in other countries..

There were two events for the entertainment of the gathering, but to my mind. the opening function" had been performed before these, then the guests would have been able to sit down and enjoy a quiet cup et tea or a cold drink without any need for hurry.

A qualified nurse will be visiting the clinic twice a week, and when there are any cases in the hos- pital," she will call every day, In this direction, Mrs. W. L.
