It's the mellowness of BOOTH'S Dry- Gin that makes it, so much to be desired in cocktails. Such mellowness comes only from "treble distillation" and maturing in sherry casks and BOOTH'S DRY is the only GIN which receives such care in its mak- ing. It is not to be wondered at that the 1st prize Cocktail, in the Inter national Cocktail Competition was made with Booth's Dry.

Royal Yachtsman
(Special Air Mal Service)
London, Aug. 1. Steering his own yacht is one of the pleasures to which the King looks forward at Cowes, and, be ing a practical seaman. he eminently fitted for the task.
18
The late King Edward, though a keen yachtsman, was not quite so proficierit, and once when he took a notion to steer the" Victoria and Albert there was an amusing sequel.
The commander of a passing de- stroyer, not satisfied with the way in which the Royal yacht was be- ing handled, jokingly signalled the commodore that he should take a few lessons in steering. The jes ter received a rude shock when the reply came back: "Excuse mis takes. Out of practice.-Edward.” Inside Temperature
A London museum is following the lead of the cinemas in their endeavours to attract people inside during the hot weather.
At the Royal United Service Museum in Whitehall, while the registered
thermometer outside over 80deg, a signi proclaimed that
This museum is cool.”

Dusting The Law Books
During the Long Vacation 50.000 books at the Law Courts will be overhauled, dusted, checked, and where necessary, repaired, ready for their users after the holiday.
Wear and tear calls for the re- binding of an average of 400 or- 500, volumes during this clean-up. Half the prodigious collection forms the Bar Library, and the other half is distributed among the many courts and official depart- ments.
To see that "strays" return and the whole household is kept in or- der has been for many years the very responsible und well-dis- charged duty of Mr. Riches, the Hbrarian.
The Tunny Club
I saw the new burgee of the British Tunny Club. recently, A large white tunny rests realisti- cally on a dark blue background. A number of tunny-fishing enthu- slasts have already left London for the headquarters at Scarborough, and a catch may be expected any day now,
..
The new burgee, by the way, is not to be holated when entering port unless the boat has a tunny aboard so holiday-makers on the Yorkshire coast will know what to
look for.
