SURREY GIRL IN FİLM OF CAVALCADE
STORY NO. 1.
A vivacous young English girl, whose voice has been heard in a large number of Hollywood films, but whose face has never yet been seen on the screen, appears for the first time, voice, face and person ality complete in the Fox Film of Noel Coward's Cavalcade."
Her name is Mildred Carroll, and she was born in Caterham, Surrey, Ever since the film became audible she has liven employed, From time to time, as a voice ghost for more famous queen's of the screen. Many a time she has been respon sible for the singing of songs which have led to wide controversy,
"Did Miss Stellar Glitter' sing this or that song all on her own If so why had she never before been heard of as a singer, but only as a great film artist ?"
Mildred knew that the mighty atar had bor- rowed the voice of the more humble English girl: it was almost her own secret and often she was sworn to silence.

Now Miss Carroll is Cavalcade as the leader in a girl chorus singing "We're the girls of the C... the sprightly number which helped to make up the morals of the British public in the dark days before the relief of Mafe king.
The song has a place in the operytta Mirabelle written by Noel Coward, and introduced logic ally in Cavalcade" to form a natural theatre back-ground for the announcement that Mafeking has been relieved. Although Miss Car roll has never before made a com- plete film debut, she has been head- lined in vaudeville on the great American Orpheum theatre chain, and has also toured America with Kolb and Dill, American came- diana. She is still as English as ever she was, and is glad to maka her first screen materialisation in vo English a film as "Cavaleide."
