An official report issued by the Statistical Office of the Im ports and Exports Department states that total imports of meï- chandise into the Colony during the month of May, 1933, amount- ed to a declared value of $46.9 millions (£3,2 millions), as com pared with $53.4 millions (E3.3 millions) in May 1952, while exports totalled $37.6 millions (£2.3 millions), as against $37,6 millions (£2.3 millions),

For the first five months of 1933, Imports totalled $219.6 millions (£14.3 millions), as compared with $285.3 millions (£18.9 millions) in the corresponding period of 1932, while Exports were valued at $177.9 millions (£11.5 millions), as compared with $208.8 millions (£13.8 millions) in the same period,
