My Lord Duke,
I beg leave most respectfully to inform your Grace, that on the 15th instant, I requested Mr Mercer, the Colonial Treasurer, acting for Lieutenant-Colonel Caine, Colonial Secretary and Auditor General, to lay before the Governor the letter which I addressed to His Grace The Duke of Newcastle, Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies.
