The statement that Russia wanted THE Undersigned have received to destroy the family, to abolish mariage, to steep the world in im- morality, and to raise it up in a revolution of hatred and blasphemy against God was made on by the Archbishop of St. Andrews and Edinburgh (Dr. A. J. McDonald), in an address. given at the sixth Annual meeting of the Salford Diocesan branch of the Union of Catholic Mothers, hold at Belle Vue, Manchester.

SATURDAY,

JUNE 17, 1999

COMMENCING AT 10.30, A.M. AT GODOWN No. 84, THE HONGKONG & KOWLOON WHARF & GODOWN CO., LTD.,

Tribute to the Pope's Lead. The Archbishop, who spoke under the chairmanship of the Bishop of Salford (Dr. T. Henshaw) to an audience of 3,000 members of the nion, said that for months past the Pope had been impressing upon the world" and calling for the most part like a voice in the wilder ness" to realise that our civilisa 14 tion was in real peril. The Pope, 26 he said, was no alarmist. He was 47

un the state of the orld. "It is," said the Archbishop, "an appalling. tide of evil that is issuing from Moscow, and we do not yet appre- ciate the danger with which it s velops us". It was perfectly plair, with the cruelty that accompanied this awful campaign, that there was no mere human intellect involved.
