Grand Master. Worshipful Brother W. J. Ling, who was Master of the lodge in 1919, and was again ac- carded the honour in view of the bicentenary, was in the chair.

One of the hyrins sung at the festival was written by Brother T. Dunkerley, Provincial Grand Mas ter of Somerset, for a Masonic service held at Bath Abbey in December, 1784.

The secretary, Brother A. God frey Day, read at the meeting a shart history of the Lodge, which howed that the present No. 41 was constituted in 1723 or the begin- ning of 1724 There was a record of a lodge meeting at the Queen's Head. Bath, in 1795.

Freemasonry had existed in Bath, he said from 1724 to the present day, which was more than could said of any other city or town in the country.

In May, 1733, the Lodge was meeting at the Bear Hotel, which stood right across what was now the bottom of Union-street. A building-now the well-planned

This was originally the famed Bath. Theatre, the haunt of Sheridan and the home of his early triumphs.
