EFFECTS OF THE NEW SCALE OF
IMPORT TARIFFS
SHANGHAI, May 27.
The new scals of import tariffs came into effect during the week under review, but it still appears to be too early to see what effecia they will have, says the "North-China Daily News." In some of the markets reviewed below dealers have been active in buying from stooks in Shanghai and have left forward business alone. There has been considerable activity in the silk market as the bonus period comes to an end next week,

We would go rather easy on the buying side.
