SUSSEX AND SURREY IN SCORING

MOOD

LANCASHIRE LOSE 100 PER CENT. RECORD: ELEVEN CENTURIES SCORED

THROUGH REUTER'S AGENCY]

London, May 23.

In the week and cricket programme which has just been brought to a close, the superiority of the bat over the ball was emphasised in no uncertain manner, although a few bowlers returned some very creditible analyses.

Sussex and Surray both topped the five hundred mark in their matches against Gloucester and Hampshire, respectively, and bal ting honours were claimed by young Barling of Surrey who put together 269 runs before losing his wicket. Another player to top the double-century was Iddon of Lancashire who was undefeat ed with 204 in their match against Warwick,

Apart from the high score put up by these two players, nine others entered the land of the magical three figures, two of them passing the 150 mark.

Lancashire lost their 100 per cent. record when they were forced to be content with first innings points from Warwick, and it might be of interest to note that during the course of the match, 976 runs were scored for the loss of '21 wickets.
