WITH LORRY
Accident near Canton
FOUR KILLED: SIX INJURED
killed and Four Chinese were six were injured in an accident which occurred near Shekpai Vit fage yesterday morning when the Canton-Kowloon Express crashed into a motor lorry,

The train pulled up for about half an hour to render assistance, and the injured were immediately rushed to hospitals in Canton.
As a result of this accident, the express arrived at about 11.45 am. instead of 11.10. The locomotive was only slightly damaged.
Shekpai which is only half an hour's trip from Canton, is the first station from the main station at the Canton terminus.

MR. J. A. W. LOUREIRO
Shanghai, May 20-The death occurred at the Paulun Hospital yesterday afternoon, following a heart attack, of Mr. John Alfred Wilde Loureiro, a member of a large and well-known China family, at the age of 60.

Joseph's College, Hong Kong. In the early 1890's he joined the staff of the Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation, subsequently served with the Russo-Chinese Bank and the Banque de l'Indo-Chine. He then went into the hotel busi- ness, and became manager of the Astor House, Shanghai. From 1803 to 1000 he was manager of the King's Hotel, Weihaiwei, aud from 1912 to 1917 was manager of the Burlington Hotel Shanghai. In the 1990's he was a member of the Shanghai Volunteer Artillery.
In 1918 he became assistant a countant of the Shanghai Water works Co., a post from which he retired on April 30 of this year. He returned from a trip to Hong Kong only last Monday, and was inaking preparations for a journey to Europe, with his wife, next month, when he intended to visit his mother and stepfather.
