Asia Lands, Limited, has received the following report from their New
York correspondents, E. A. Pierce & Co. Industrial issues are now ' following commodities and we do not look for any severe set-back. We think that rails still present possibilities over a near-term. Business news continues to be satisfactory. Wheat: General liquidation, with limited support and some new buying around the low levels resulted in a slight rally, Cotton: Relatively heavy selling caught stop orders, The trade was the principal buyer. Silver: Liquidation was absorbed by short covering. There was some trade and speculative buying on the way down. Business Done: 1,300,000 shares.

The fact that some forty.coun- tries now follow sterling offers an excellent opportunity for leader ship. When the aftenpostponed and long-awaited World Economic Con- ference takes place its success will depend on one of the parties pré- sent at it giving a lend. May we not hope that it will be from this country that the lead will be forth- coming?
What chance is theres of agree- ment even within the Empire it Great Britain has not first made up her own mind Over and over again the Government has been pressed to announce its monetary policy, but all that has been so far slicited is the negative assurance that it wil hót return to gold un- leva and noti) it is satisfied that the Gold Standard will work. For what it is worth we welcome, that nssurance, but it is not worth enough.
In such a situation it is not enough to have a purely negative policy and merely to await the course of events in the hope that perhaps an opportunity may pre- sent itself for a return to the inter- national Gold Standard system,'
Lord-Leverhulme was re-elected president. Sir Felix Pole, chair- inan of Metropolitan-Vickers, was at the head of the poll in the election of twelve members for the council of the chamber, leading his nearest rival by 13 votes.
