LONDON, April 23. The 45th annual general meeting of Hadfields, Ltd. was held at the Royal, Victoria Hotel, Sheffield. Sir, Robert Hadfield, Bt., M.Inst.C.E., F.R.S. (the chairman), presided.

The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and ac counts, said the year under review, unfortunately, not only showed no improvement in the iron and steel industry, but proved to be one of the most difficult and disappointing in the history of the company.
