"T is with the greatest pleasure that I write to testify to the benefits I have received by taking Phosferine during my training for the 1931 Malayan Weight Lifting Championships.
As I had to reduce some seven or eight pounds off my normal bodyweight in order to enable me to compete in the stone class. I had to go into very strenuous training, and with the help of Phosferine, f not only won the championship of that class, but also the Individual Championship, and, in addition I broke a British Record.
I therefore have no hesitation in recommending Phosfering to any physical culturist, or athlete, whether he be in ordinary training or preparing for a competition. as it

the, We also invite assistance in connec- tion with the care of bird shops, action had to be taken in connec tion with one owner when a heavy fine was inflicted for keeping hun- dreds of birds in a very small cago. | Any person can take out a summon
should they observe 1 cruelty, and as we have now - ranged for our Inspectors to wear & suitable uniform, help may be more easily obtained from them in the course of their duties.
The work of the Society has been carried on during the past year very successfully, while much that we would have liked to have accom. plished still remains to be carried out. The fact that we have made some progress reflect very credit ably on those who give their time to this very deserving and essen- tial work of the Community. Our monthly meetings have been well attended, and. I may again remark that, although they are nominally Committee Meetings, we welcome any one who may be interested in our work to come to the meeting. Our meetings are held on the first Thursday in overy month,

more suitable site for a dogs' home, and, I am pleased to state, we have been granted a pieco of ground adjacent to King's Park for this purpose. It is our intention to build a place where not only w wanted dogs may have a home but also where sick animals may he treated. In this connection appli- cation has been made to the Royal Society for prevention to Animals in London asking them to recom- mend a qualified Vetenary surgeon to attend to the work of our home, together with a private practice. I feel sure this will commend itself to all lovers of animals here. We are greatly indebted to Mr. Rouse
The annual carnival dance or ganised by the society turned out more profitable than the previous year, and was a most enjoyable func tion. Our chief difficulty seems to be to select a suitable date to hold the dance, as the mouth of March appears to be fully booked up; con- sideration to this matter must be attended to by the new committee. We are very much indebted to our Vice-President, Mr. Davies, for, his assistance in compiling our new rules and having them published. We have now a set of rules that for his assistance in connection with will be of great assistance in helpour obtaining the new site at King's ing to guide the work of the society. Park,
Humane Killer,
After much consideration and communication with the Government in connection with the killing of cattle, it was decided to obtain the necessary appliances from home with a view to demonstrating their us to those in authority; this we hope to be able to carry out at an carly date. In connection with this question I should like to have the public with us in our effect to in- troduce these modern methods to our alaughter houses. In almost all countrice the old fashioned pole axo has given place to the special gun constructed for the purpose; it our own expense we liave obtained this weapon and hope to "ace it in genoral use. I make this appeal to the C.V.S. The Dairy Farm and to any others who may be interest ed in the slaughter of animals for food. I may add these weapon have been proved to be economies, in use and easy to manipulate.
Essay Competition.
We hate again set an Essay Com- petition going among the Girl Guides and Boy Scouts and I wish to thank the Guide Lenders and Scout Leaders for their assistance: Those competitions are intended to train the young mind in the ways of kindness. During the past year I have passed out many Girl Guides and Boy Scouts for the "friend to animul " badge and leaders can easily obtain the services of any of our members for this duty. Therefore, in closing my report feel sure you will agree we have done something to reduce cruelty to animals and to create a sympathetic attitude to our work. Our society means a lot to the Community. While we cannot obtain the great interest or support granted to other Charitable Constitutions, we do hope to always command the little assistance of all who can spare a little love to our animal friends.
I wish to thank all those who have Basisted me in my duties as your.
