ARTILLERY : ATHLETICS This match was played on the Sookunpoo ground yesterday, and ended in a win for the Artillery by four goals to one. The Chinese fielded practically the whole of the second eleven which carried off the Second Division Championship, while
the Artillery made two changes from their regular team. The Chinese, despite their handicap put up a creditable display, and had a fair share of the game. They had quite a number of chances, but their forwards wore slow in making use of then through hesitation and weak shooting.
The game started with the Gon- ners attacking. They forced two corners in quick succession, in one of which Gough came near to scor ing with a shot which the Chinese goal keeper just managed to tip over the bar. Play was then trans ferred to the other side, and the Chinese had hard luck in not scor-
ing when Lo Chai Man shot straight at the goalkeeper's legs from close-in. Immediately after wards they were awarded a. free kick just outside the penalty area, and Lo, who took the kick, seat in a nice shot, which found the right top, corner of the net.

The Gunners kept up the attack, however, and soon they were warded with the equaliser when Pardoe sent in a long shot from the rebound of a shot by Seal, which caught the goalkeeper un aware, The Chinese then had a brief period of attack but their forwards were slow in making use of the opportunities offered and instead of shooting they preferred to try to dribble past the backs."
Play was again transferred to the Chinese half, nnd from a nice centre by Seal, Macdonald shot at goal. The goalkeeper, instead of getting hold of the ball, punched it out, and Edmonds rushing in scored, thus giving the Gunners the lead. Immediately afterwards, the Chinese were awarded a penalty 1833 for handling, but Lo who took the spot kick shot wide. The interval arrived with the Gunners leading by two goals to one.
