The Macao Race Club will be holding their Spring Race Meeting to-morrow with a programme seven rices, the principal attraction being the Macao Derby for which oight entries, seven of which are qualified to start.
The races for the Macao sub- scription griffins included in the programmo are very open and there is promise of some big dividends, ospecially as it is fumoured the form has changed considerably in

In the principal event the starters! are likely to be Spotted Butterfly (Mr. Frost), Poker Face (Mr. Soares), Night Patrol (Mr. Needa), Widnes (Mr. Heard) and Lacky: Face (Mr. Caplan).

WASHINGTON, March 20 Authorisation for a potentially great expansion of United States currency and the continuation of the emergency banking powers are requested in President Roosevelt' Bank Bill, which was submitted to Congress a few hours after the opening of the special session, The Bill ratifies and continues the President's emergency powers in banking and financial spheres.
The Bank Bill orders the con centration of the Nation's gold into Federal Reserve Banks and por maits bankers to get the equivalent circulation of notes from the Federal Reserve Bank in return for the United States Government's obligations, including notes, drafta, bill of exchange and bankera' acceptances.
These notes will be receivable at par throughout the United States.
The-Bill permits only "sound" banks to open immediately, and others to he reorganised.
