pura, Admiral Dreyer said that he was greatly looking forward to his two years of command on the China Station which is one of the only two on which he has never served the other being the Cape.
Although he has not been here before the Admiral has had a good deal to do with Chinese affairs, For the last two years he has been Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff of the Admiralty Board, and a few years earlier served on the Board na assistant Deputy Chief. From 1919 to 1920 he was Chief of Staff to Admiral Earl Jellicoe, when the latter visited India and the Dominions to advise thorn as to :1 how best to contribute to the de- fence of the Empire,
"The notorious bandit, Lok Yen Huer was arrested forty Chiness miles from Hanchung and has been shot outside the eity, gate. This has removed one of the most daring and
wicked men known in these parta for years, and it is believed, that many of his thousands of followers will now return to their houts and farms. Others of the same calling have been arrested by the people and soldiers and have been dealt with in the same way To-day their heads may be seen hanging in cages suspended from trees and posts near the scenes ofheir robberies and murders. It siffoundь dread- ful to people living in the Home- lands, but those wht have lived in bandit infested areas and who hes? of the dreadful cruelties of these men upon their captives, will agree that such treatment is a. merciful ending of merciless men.
Sir Frederick Dreyer who was born in January 1978, and is there fore fifty-five years of age, is a tall und athletic gure, and certainly does not look his age Asked if he Not many days ago I had a visi、 wers food of games, the Admirator who had been in the hands of said that he only played tennis and

The new Commander-in-Chief has ell the traditional charm of manner of the Naval Officer and there can be no doubt that both be and Lady Dreyer, with whom our represents tive had a very short conversation, will be most welcome members of Hong Kong Society.
Lady Dreyer is interested in the work of the Mothers Union and a Frominent member of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Friendly Wives Asso riation, so that one can envisage Tady Dreyer and Mrs. Borrett, who is actively associated with similar Focial work, getting together and doing a good deal to help to make the China Station one of the most popular with the men of both Bervices.

When they arrived at the camp in the mountains, not more than forty miles from his home, he was hung up to the roof of the house by means of a rope tied round the head.
