The Dunlop Revere Thread Con- pany, which markets certain pro ducts of the Dunlop Rubber Co. and the U.S. Rubber Co., in Great Britain and the continent of 339 Europe, is already developing the,
use of the new thread at Leicester, and representatives of the company are now touring the manufacturing 20 centres of Lancashire to introduce the new yarn into the mills. Ac cording to one of these officials, all kinds of fabrice can be made from yarn manufactured by this process, The process can be applied to cot ton, wool, silk and linen, but the English company are concentrating on cotton and silk. For some time artificial silk; (rayon) has been employed in con- junction with cotton to produce a cloth acceptable to the trades which manufacture dress goods, but research work in Manchester has discovered a method of treating cotton cloth which makes it practic Ally indistinguishable from silk.
This discovery will establish cot- bon goods as a rival both to rayon and real silk, and will substantial lyssaint Lancashire's export of cot ton cloth in the finer qualities.
