KEEN INTER-COMPANY COMPETITION
The annual athletic sports of the 3rd Battalion 9th Jat Regiment took place yesterday at the Kow. Joon Cricket Club ground.
There was a very large attend aner and the grounds were colour fully decurated with buinting. Keen competition and inter-company rivalry was very evident through out and the programine included many interesting events, including a novel spectators' race.

The Gardner Engines.
The main propelling units consist of a twin set of Gardner 839 marine
cold starting strokes heavy oil engines, each developing 400 B.H.P. at 500 R.P.M. A rather novel feature of these engines is that clutches are fitted at each end and it is possible either to transmit tlie power at the Forward or After end of the engine leaving one set of pro pellers idling. Plaintiff's case was that the floor was let to the defendant in Decem ber. Ho paid one month's rent" in advance but did not pay the rent for January.
