KEROSENE DRUM

EXPLODES

TWO EUROPEANS SUSTAIN BURNS.

An explosion at the A.P.C. In- stallation at North Point resulted in injuries being caused to two nembers of the Company's staff Messrs. Walker and Foster, on Saturday alternoon.

It appears that at about 3.10 p.m. while experiments were being car ried out to test a certain oil, a drum of kerosene became gait- ed and exploded. The fames set alight to a planking platform on which the drum was placed and spread rapidly, threatening the whole installation.

A call was sent to the Fire Bri gade Station.. at Central and thei arrival of four appliances resulted in the flames being put under con trol in a very short while.

The two injured men, fortunate. ly, only sustained slight burns about the face and their condition

is not considered serious.
