SIR ROBERT HO TUNG'S DAUGHTER MARRIED

WEDDING OF GRACE HO TUNG AND MR. HORACE LO

A GREAT CROWD OF GUESTS AT RECEPTION

The social avant of the Chinese New Year was the weddkig yesterday of Sir Robert Ho Tung's daughter, Grace, to Mr. Horpse Lo of the well-known firm of Lo and Lo.

The reception, at which probably a thousand guasts ware pre- sent, was held on the first floor of the Hong Kong Hotel. The enormous wedding cake; Ave tiers high topped by quaint brids and bridegroom delis, was made by Mao's Cafeteria and excited general admiration both in its cut and uncut states.

A feature of the wedding, as all big Chinese ceremoniais, was the gorgeous and beautiful costumes worn by the married ladies among the Chinese guests.

The two tiny bridesmaids, Elizabeth Gittine and Rita Lor whose combined ages can hardly run into double figures, are both *. nieces of the bride, and little Rita can claim the bridegroom as an uncle as well. Dressed in exact copies of the gown worn by the chief bridesmaid, Misa Florence Ho Tung, the bride's sister, they looked deliciously quaint and charming.

The Hon. Mr. W. T. Southom, OMG., made a delightfully witty speech in which he warned the bridegroom not to enter into verbal battle with his wife, for, despite his legal training, he would probably loose the case!

MR. SOUTHORN'S WITTY SPEECH

THE BRIDE'S DRESS The wedding was celebrated in the Registry Office in the presence of members of the family, the bride being given away by her father, Sir Robert Ho Tung. Dr. K. C. Yen acted as best man.

Miss Grace Ho Tung made a very lovely bride in her dress of parch maut crepe romaine cut on Grecian lines with a long tulle veil secured by a cap of pearls and orange blossom. She carried w sheaf of Arum lille

Both bride and groom are course well-known in Hong Kong Grace Ho Tung, is, among other things is one of the ending feminine lights of the University, Horace Lo as a lawyer and even better perhaps as a brilliant tennis player.

The Hon. Mr. WT Southorn, in proposing the health of the bride and groom, said:- Ladies and Gentlemen.

To me has been allotted the pleasant privilege of proposing the health of the bride and bridegroom. It is an honour which I greatly appreciate for my wife and I have known both the families ever since we came to Hong Kong and we have established warm friendship3 with them. Both families hold honoured positions in Hong Kong and both have played important parts in the public life of the Co lony. This is not the first time these two leading families have been united in marriage and Horace and Grace have an excellent exam- ple to follow in the happy married life of their brother and sister Mr., and Mrs. M. Grade Bightly Named,

1 am going to spare the blushes of the happy couple by avoiding the usual' references to the beauty of the bride and the handsomeness of the bridegroom. They, both stand before you, happiness writ ten large upon their faces and as you probably remember, "to gild refined gold, to paint the lily is wasteful and ridiculóns excess. Grace is surely rightly named, for aho is the embodiment of grace and mistress of many arta, though. strange as it may seem, the Hong Kong University will still insist on calling her a Bachelor of Arts even after her marriage.
